Tammy Ruggles Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I began writing at about the age of 12, encouraged by my classmates when I’d write and pass short stories around the classroom. I’ve been writing in one form or another ever since.

Although my professional writing has been mostly fiction and non-fiction, I also started writing poetry at a young age, but didn’t write it seriously until my college years.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
With poetry, I usually think of a single concept. It may be a broad subject, or something specific. But I like to take the idea and convey it in an artistic kind of way, which poetry allows me to do.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
I have a couple of poetry anthologies at Amazon. One is faith-based, the other is not.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
When it comes to poetry, Edgar A Poe, Emily Dickinson, the classics like Keats, Wordsworth, Byron.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I don’t have a lot of time for reading except for some fanfiction, but I do enjoy suspense or non-fiction. Crime books, detective novels, tragedies, psychological.

What are you reading now?
Nothing right now.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
Cooking, tidying the house, walking.

Are you working on a current project?
No, I just finished my final book. The only project I have right now is promoting the books I’ve written.
