Tyler Coryea Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I’m a young adult from the Rust belt of America. The thing that inspired me was the creative flow that poetry has. The looks on people’s face when they read something that changed them. Poetry is a tool that can be used to influence someone, and create a topic of discussion.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
My writing process is very random, and it sorta hits me all at once. When I think of poetry I am usually driving in the car, and BOOM it hits me. I can get into that headspace pretty easily, but it’s hard to leave it on the table.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
I have only self published one book “The Colorful Wave” and it’s a collection of poetry about Global warming and the effects. I chose the name Colorful Wave because when we think ocean it’s blue. I saw a arrival about plastic bits floating and I thought “what if someday waves become colorful because of all the plastic” and that’s how the title came to me.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
My favorite authors are Rupi Kaur

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I love to read short poetry books that are random

What are you reading now?

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?

Are you working on a current project?
Yes I’m working on a new book and ita a lot of fun
