Marius Alexandru Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

Marius Alexandru, born and raised in Arad, Romania, came to the United States in 1997, where he currently lives with his wife.
His passion for poetry started as a child, and he has been writing poetry since his adolescence.
He is the author of a few Romanian Christian poetry books, including “Fosnetul Pasilor din Duzi”, “Scaldati in Susurul Bland al Harului”, “Doruri Sfinte”, English Poetry “Ring of Fire-Poems”, “Reflection of Thoughts”, and many other poems published in Poetry Anthologies during the years, in both Romanian and English languages.
His poems “Limba Mea, Limba Romana” and “În Limba Română” are included in many live poetry recitals when in Romania and Moldova is celebrated “Romanian Language Day”. (31st August)

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I like to write in all styles and forms. I love rhyming but also free verses. I wrote sonnets, ballads, limericks, haikus, palindromes, and many more.
I even invented two new poetry forms called QAP 8X10 and QAP 10X8.
“QAP 8X10” or “QAP 10X8”, new forms created by Marius Alexandru, on February 2021 consist of 5 respective 4 stanzas of 2 lines each stanza, (couplets) and a strict 80 syllables each poem in a Question-Answer format.

QAP 8X10 form consists of 8 syllables each line with a total of 10 lines, respective 5 stanzas of 2 lines each. (5 couplets)
QAP 10X8 form consists of 10 syllables each line with a total of 8 lines, respective 4 stanzas of 2 lines each. (4 couplets)
It is a rhyming form with an AA BB CC DD EE rhyming scheme.
Both forms have 80 syllables and are Question/Answer Style poems.
(first line the question second line the answer)
The name of the new form is “QAP” meaning Question Answer Poem.
In a QAP form, always the first number (either 8 or 10) represents the number of syllables/line and the second one (either 8 or 10) represents the number of lines in the poem.
Both forms (QAP 8X10 and QAP 10X8) always should have a total of 80 syllables.
(QAP 8×10 = 8 syllables/line X 10 lines)
(QAP 10×8 = 10 syllables/line X 8 lines)
More about these forms here; https://mariusalex.wordpress.com/2021/08/22/qap-8×10-and-qap-10×8-new-poetry-forms/

Gary Gautier Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

Ah, Dr. Seuss! And later, prowling the gloomier corners of used bookstores for obscure art and esoteric philosophy, antiquated science and forgotten poets. And always writing. We all need something to break through the factual surface of our lives and deepen the contours of human experience. For me it’s writing and reading — novels and poetry.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
As a poet and novelist, I’d compare writing poetry to acute pain and novels to chronic pain. Either may start with character, a setting, or just pondering how little moments of human contact can end up framing an entire life. Then with poetry, I drop into an intense silo with enormous pressure on every word; with novels, there is more rational planning but still a lot of spontaneity as things develop and character start taking me where THEY want to go instead of where I had planned.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
There are many threads in my poetry, from intimate bonding to cosmic contemplation to the images in themselves. But I suppose — especially in the new book, Schematics and Assemblies of the Cosmic Heart — that transcendence is a unifying element — how does one brittle image or one small moment in an intimate relationship break us through the surface of life to the infinite beyond. My novels are “literary fiction,” by which I don’t mean better than anthing else, but a certain style, where it’s not about following a series of plot points to see how it ends but rather a circling deeper and deeper into the subjective spaces within and between characters, and playing with language and structure along the way.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
Mostly classics. Plato and Boethius, Shakespeare and Dickens, Jane Austen and Virginia Woolf, the British Romantics for poetry. More recently (i.e., within the past half-century), Toni Morrison and Latino writers like Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Carlos Fuentes. And I still dip into all the tributaries to the hippie world view, the Beat poets, Baba Ram Dass, Gandhi, Richard Brautigan.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I read and re-read from the classic authors list above. I could read Virginia Woolf’s “To the Lighthouse” once every 5 years and find whole new threads of meaning running through it every time. My forthcoming novel is a post-apocalyptic adult hippie fairy tale, so I’m leaning a lot on Richard Brautigan’s beautifully poetic short novel, “In Watermelon Sugar.”

What are you reading now?
I’ve been reading Latino works in Spanish most recently — currently “La Tregua” (The Truce) by Mario Benedetti (Uruguay), “Aura” by the Carlos Fuentes (Mexico), and “Juego de espejos/Arroyo frío” (Game of Mirrors/Cold Stream), which includes Spanish translations of the Tang dynasty Chinese poet, Meng Jiao, along with original works by Mexican poet, Gaspar Orozco.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I’ve hitchhiked through 14 countries in the past 5 years, picking up short-term university teaching jobs and technical writing jobs online along the way. After hitchhiking Mexico a bit, I’ve settled in a lovely town in central Mexico to ride out the pandemic. Stuck in paradise for now, I guess you could say. Life is good.

Are you working on a current project?
My new book of poems is just out, so I’ll be marketing that. I have a rough draft of my next novel completed also — that’s the post-apocalyptic adult hippie fairy tale called “Alice.” I expect a lot more revision on that one though.

LaToya Martin Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

As a teen, I had more of a love for drawing instead – writing was never interesting to me. I had a particular assignment in school, and that’s when I wrote my first poem called “What Love is Like.” A few of my classmates liked the poem and at that moment, I thought, I may be good at this. Years later as many trials in my life began to unfold, I began writing more and more, and over time my love for poetry grew. I was born and raised in the small town of Boley, Oklahoma and I am the mother of two teenage daughters. My poetry has been published in different local magazines and newspapers. I believe in the healing power of words, and I want to share my poetry with readers who are struggling or feeling down. My voice is a non-judgmental light for anyone experiencing the darkness of loss, depression, and pain. I believe my poems are rays of light, and so my poetry is a reflection of me. For more of my poetry IG: @_latoyamartin

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I have to write in a noisy environment, I cannot concentrate on my writing in silence. I keep sticky notes and a pen beside my bed if I have an idea I need to jot down. I have awakened and written many of my poems after midnight. The endings of my poems are always written first, followed by the beginning then the title.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
Tears of Me is a collection of poems about suffering, love, and loss. A poetry book full of emotion in its many forms. Each poem depicts a tear that has been shed, be it of sadness, anger, or happiness. It resembles parts of life that many people experience and can relate to.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
I currently do not have any favorite authors.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I love reading paranormal stories and the bible. My favorite book is the bible.

What are you reading now?
I am not currently reading any books but my next book choice will be “Her” by Pierre Alex Jeanty.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
When I am not writing, I love fishing, watching anything paranormal, and exploring photography.

Are you working on a current project?
Yes, I am currently working on my second poetry book and a children’s book.

Dr. Stuart Knott Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I’m Dr. Stuart Knott, a PhD graduate from the United Kingdom. I’m 25, a lifelong fan of horror, comic books, and videogames, and currently live in Bedfordshire.

I’ve always enjoyed writing; even as a kid I used to write little stories, often with illustrations, of me and my friends going on wacky adventures. It’s always been a hobby of mine but I really started taking it more seriously when I turned sixteen and, later, at university.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I think so. Generally, I start with the germ of an idea and then develop it into an outline and a series of character breakdowns before plotting out each chapter and the vague idea of where the story will go before letting the writing guide me. I like to emphasis realistic dialogue and a decent amount of descriptions, as well as keeping things as logical and grounded as possible.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
‘Nightshade: The Inception’ is something of a coming-of-age story about a troubled teenager who suffers a life-changing break up that turns his world upside down. Lashing out and withdrawing into himself, he ends up adopting a vigilante persona in a town on the brink of anarchy and ends up embroiled in a gang war.

‘The Teamos Connection’ is a collection of six short stories, mostly revolving around horrific events perpetrated by a malevolent supermarket that is actually a front for biological research.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
Definitely Stephen King. “It” is still my favourite novel ever written and I took a lot of inspiration from many of his works and the way he can take normal, everyday situations and characters and introduce an extraordinary or horrific element into them. I am also a big fan of dark humour, like Bret Easton Ellis’ “American Psycho”, and science-fiction stories by the likes of H. G. Wells or even Douglas Adams.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I do enjoy reading. Mostly, I read graphic novels (I love my Batman and Spider-Man) but I do read full-length novels as well. As I said, “It” is my all-time favourite book but I also enjoy “The Stand”, “The Tommyknockers”, and “Dreamcatcher”. Outside of King, “American Psycho”, “The Rules of Attraction” are top books for me and I also enjoy the “Red Dwarf” books by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor.

What are you reading now?
I just started reading Stephen King’s “Insomnia” again, which another of my favourites of his.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I do have a full-time job (though I’ve mainly been on furlough lately). Most of my free time is spent gaming or writing reviews and articles for my website, as well as watching movies.

Are you working on a current project?
I’m currently nearing the end of the first rough draft of a shorter novella about some young kids who uncover an ancient secret in their quiet little home town.

Oliver Allen Interview

There is nothing unique about my writing, its very plain and boring. I try to use everyday language to make it as accessible as possible, for everyone who wants to interpret it.

Camille Cabrera Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

As a child, Camille Cabrera spent hours hiding underneath her bed covers with a flashlight and an excellent book, way past her bedtime. Eventually, she began to write short stories and poems that slowly grew into full-length novels.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
Mystery and suspense galore! Camille Cabrera strives to create novels that build interest with each turn of the page. She works to blend the everyday with the fantastic.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
Beach days and long car rides are a must. Ms. Cabrera spends her time recharging in the sun and letting her mind wander. Frequently, her new book ideas come from simple moments spent thinking on her beach days or hikes. The ideas pop-up and shine like a gleaming beacon during a dark stormy night at sea.

Are you working on a current project?
Yes! Camille Cabrera has two novels set for release at the end of 2021.

The Rule of Three is a fast-paced witchcraft novel that follows a high-strung CEO turned hapless occult dabbler. Witchcraft isn’t as easy as the movies make it seem.

The Mystery of Mistletoe Motel delves into the chaotic life of the Pondwater sisters as they struggle to save their family-run motel before Christmas. Careful ladies, a white lie has the potential to snowball, especially during the holidays.

Additionally, Ms. Cabrera has two top-secret projects brewing for 2022.

Francine Fallara

It started near the end of 2017, being a part-time home caregiver for my dad’s end of life short-term care. I would work 2 weeks (180 hours) in a row in an exploration camp, fly back and help mom 2 weeks (180 hours) for my dad’s care. One night, I was exhausted. My niece, Maii, whispered to me, ‘Maybe you should start writing?’ I remember her laughing at my question mark face. So she added, that I should write to help me process all of life’s hard blows.

Prior to October 2017, I had never written a poem or a short story in my life, except for the required writings through high school and college. Afterwards and still now, through my career as a geologist, I have written many technical geoscience reports. These reports, for many of my colleagues sound excruciating, but for me they always are an easy task.

I never understood poetry until I started writing my own poems. And now, there is not a day that goes by without me writing some kind of poetry and reading a bucket of them daily. I can honestly say now that poetry is one of the most beautiful form of writing. For me poetry is so free. Everybody can write poetry seeking deep down in their soul their real feelings. Poetry is unique for all of us and reaches out in various ways.

Matthew Paris Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Growing up, I was really into sports and it has continued to be a big part of my life. Writing was something I never thought about doing until my Sophomore year in high school. I was sitting in English class and the teacher came up to me and said I was doing really well in her class. She handed me an A paper and told me that she thinks this is a talent and that I should really explore this. I of course said, thank you, but never really thought about it again until college.

I attended Texas Tech University where I got my Bachelor’s an English Literature. While there, I would study great authors like; Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, Stephen King, and Chuck Palahniuk, to name a few. I had so much fun in those classes and they really focused on breaking down the story and what the author meant by a scene.

After college, I begin writing screenplays first and sports articles for The Sports Column. I have contributed over one-hundred articles and I was the most viewed in 2018 and 2019. I’ve also written short films that played on DirecTV and AT&T U-VERSE. I didn’t start writing my first book until 2017 and that was over my coaching experience and training young athletes in Austin, TX. It took me about a year to complete.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I remember during my time as a college student, professors would tell us that we would need to write everyday. I think that’s good practice. It’s a muscle and you have to be able to work it out to get better at this craft. I’m a person who can’t write everyday, not unless I’m Stephen King. Lol. Sometimes when I’m writing, I’ll be stuck on one page and need to get away for a few days to come back to it with a fresh pair of eyes. At other times, I’m on a roll, I’ll write ten pages in one day.

The hardest part for me with writing is just the motivation of sitting down and do it. At home you might have a lot of distractions, but you have to be able to tell yourself I’m going to write for these many hours or no matter what, I’m going to write these many pages. It works for me, but I know every writer has a different process.

Some people like to block out time to write, but I like to be spontaneous with my writing. I also like to write descriptive passages in the books and get very detailed with it. I usually write about three pages before I have a character speak any dialog. Screenplays, you can’t do that it’s all about dialog, but with a book you can get away with it. The reader has to be able to get in the character’s mind and see what he or she is feeling.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
I have three books on Amazon. Preparing Athletes For The Future, The Light That Shines Upon The Players, and my new one, An Athlete’s Journey.

Preparing Athletes For The Future is really my coaching book. I’ve been a sports coach for 12 years in the Austin area and I grew up an athlete. I was a kid of the 90s and I think how coaches trained athletes back then is very different than how it is now. I wanted to explore that in the book. I also wanted the reader to feel what the coaches are going through. What happens if you can’t get along with one of your co-coaches? How do you train an athlete who is 3 years old and starting out compared to training a middle school athlete? All of this I get detailed in each chapter.

The Light That Shines Upon The Players is about the behind the scenes that an athlete may face emotionally. What happens to him or her while at home or maybe they’re not performing well in class, so, that effects them on the field? What would happen if an athlete broke up a relationship they had for years and how does that affect him or her throughout the season? All of this, is detailed in each chapter of the book.

An Athlete’s Journey, my new one, is about the journey for an athlete that he or she has to take in order to achieve a goal. It’s definitely more grown up material. I talk about performance enhancing drugs in one chapter, I also mention Tom Brady, who people considered the greatest of all time and talk about his draft pick. All of it leads up to how to overcome obstacles and be prepared to take on life and be successful. I call it my sports trilogy of books.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
My favorite author is Richard Matheson, who wrote “I Am Legend” and many episodes for Star Trek the original television series. I also really like Chuck Palahniuk and Stephen King. One of my favorite movies is Fight Club and Palahniuk wrote the novel for it. He writes dark stuff, but he definitely keeps the reader interested. King likes the build up and at times he can be overly descriptive, but the payoff is amazing. I loved “It” and “Salem’s Lot.” Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” is a masterful piece of work and I love how it’s told all in diary format. Francis Ford Coppola movie is great, too.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I like thrillers and Dramas. Biographies are fun to read, too. I would say my favorite book of all time is probably, “I Am Legend” by Richard Matheson. You feel for the main character of Robert Neville. At times he’s lonely, but he has a purpose to be the last man on earth to find a cure to turn the effected vampires back to humans. The real story behind it is, how do you adapt to change? How do you live in an environment with no one around? Can you survive it? The story is about the ultimate survival, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading “GreenLights” by Matthew McConaughey. I’m from Texas so anything about Texas I’ll read, lol. It’s a fascinating book and I’m later on in the book where he’s becoming a big Hollywood actor. The childhood and his family life is what’s intriguing to me. There are times where he had it rough, but we come out at the end of the tunnel learning life lessons. It’s a great book.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
My full-time job is a coach in Austin. I’ve been coaching for 12 years in all sports, but right now I’m doing basketball and soccer. I usually coach the elementary and middle school athletes. I also like to hang out with friends and I’m active movie goer. I love going to see movies and critique them. One of my favorite hobbies is to run marathons and still keep in shape. I’ve run 13 half-marathons, and 1 full marathon. I ran track in high school and running is usually what I like to do to relax.

Are you working on a current project?
I usually like to write uplifting and life lesson stories that I can put in book format. My next one won’t be a sports one, but possibly a political one. I’m just trying to figure out the details.

Chaitali Nath Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

The fact that we see so much, yet overlook so much is something that makes me want to capture whatever I can in my words. I know a lot of people will probably overlook something beautiful, and if I can make them experience it through my words, I’ll be happy.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
When I start writing, I just know very little. It grows like a tree, spreads its branches as characters develop. It’s a very organic process, it happens on it’s own.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
I’ve written one book, and am working on the next one. It’s going to take time.
As of my first book, it’s name is Soul Spoken. The core of idea is that I’m trying to put into words things that are usually left unsaid, or thought of as what can not be put into words.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
Roald Dahl was a particular favorite when I was a child.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I like to read pretty much everything. I have a special liking for Indian history, historical fiction and royalty, but other than that also, I love reading as a whole.

What are you reading now?
A Princess Remembers by Maharani Gayatri Devi.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I’m currently a student at CMSDH, Kolkata, pursuing MBBS. I completed my plus two from Delhi Public School, Siliguri in 2020 itself. 2020 has definitely been an amazing year for me, and I’d love to see what 2021 brings.

Are you working on a current project?
I have a lot of projects in mind. Let’s see when and how they materialize.

Tyler Coryea Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I’m a young adult from the Rust belt of America. The thing that inspired me was the creative flow that poetry has. The looks on people’s face when they read something that changed them. Poetry is a tool that can be used to influence someone, and create a topic of discussion.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
My writing process is very random, and it sorta hits me all at once. When I think of poetry I am usually driving in the car, and BOOM it hits me. I can get into that headspace pretty easily, but it’s hard to leave it on the table.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
I have only self published one book “The Colorful Wave” and it’s a collection of poetry about Global warming and the effects. I chose the name Colorful Wave because when we think ocean it’s blue. I saw a arrival about plastic bits floating and I thought “what if someday waves become colorful because of all the plastic” and that’s how the title came to me.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
My favorite authors are Rupi Kaur

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I love to read short poetry books that are random

What are you reading now?

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?

Are you working on a current project?
Yes I’m working on a new book and ita a lot of fun

Matt Nagin Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I’ve been writing since age 16, so 26 years. It was something I started doing around the time I took a creative writing class at Penn State. Very therapeutic. All my emotions were buried inside at the time. Poetry was a chance to be a more authentic version of myself. At times, I stepped away from it, since it is not the most practical way to spend your time. But I always came back to it. Other types of writing like fiction, screenwriting, blogging, writing articles, I’ve been doing all along as well. I’ve also taught writing at seven different universities in the NYC area, so I guess you could say this has been a major emphasis of my existence.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
Very little unique about my writing process I would presume. I write the first draft in a sort of free-spirited, non-linear kind of way. Then I go back and revise–if needed. Sometimes I show the work to friends and associates for feedback and do further revisions. Other times I let it sit in a drawer for a while, then revise after I see it more clearly. I try not to get too rigid in my methods. As long as the work gets done I’m okay with it.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
My two latest books are poetry collections. “Butterflies Lost Within The Crooked Moonlight” and “Feast of Sapphires.” They are a great chance to get a feel for a wide range of my poems. If you buy the book, and send me a copy of the receipt, I will write you a personalized poem on any subject. I tried to make the poems relatable and easy enough to grasp while still offering a degree of insight into the world around us.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
I definitely enjoy authors who are a bit countercultural and satirical. Brett Easton Ellis, Denis Johnson, Charles Bukowski, Voltaire, Henry Miller. I also like writers who construct a story well. One of my favorite books ever is Robinson Crusoe. It’s just expertly written. In terms of poetry, I like Emily Dickinson, William Blake, Arthur Rimbaud etc. Emily Dickinson is probably my favorite poet, just because she does so much in so few words. Also, on the sentence level, her constructions are memorable, and, for me at least, I come back to them at random times. A stanza like “Success is counted sweetest, by those who never succeed, to comprehend a nectar, requires sorest need,” has so much in it. She gets to human motivation, but in an eloquent way. That’s what I love about poetry. It has phrases you keep coming back to when you need them. Another great one, by Auden is, “the hour glass whispers to the lion’s paw.” Love that. That says it all. You could just say the brevity of time compels us to be brave, but it wouldn’t have the same resonance.

Poets are spiritual teachers in a way.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
One of my favorite books ever is Robinson Crusoe. It’s just expertly written.

What are you reading now?
I’m reading “Gerald’s Game” by Stephen King, since I enjoyed the Netflix movie. I’m also reading the book, “Lost Soul” by Donna Siggers, a friend of mine.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I am obsessed with Stanley Kubrick. Lol. I’m in all these Kubrick Facebook groups. His movies fascinate me and I’ve watched them all countless times. I like games, Stratego, online games, casino games (blackjack, craps), arcade games etc. I also am an actor, a standup comedian, an educator, and, at least once, tried my hand at filmmaking. So I keep busy. Traveling is probably my favorite avocation of all though. Nothing better.

Are you working on a current project?
Right now I’m working on both a collection of short stories and a book of humorous pieces.

I’m a young girl of 16, who’s written a book named Soul Spoken. I can be the girl next door and the most non-fitted person of the millennium and everything in between

I have always been fan of reading stories from my childhood, born and brought up in Bengali family, I have followed Tagore’s work. I don’t write like a pro. I am amateur and I want to stay as plain as possible. My motive is to write, that the sentences make sense with the rhyme. Having knowledge about all is great but to apply will certainly not make you Shakespeare only if you think. So I am hypothetical.

Liela Marie Fuller Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

My name is Liela Marie Fuller. I was born and raised in Camden, New Jersey. I started writing at my Great-Grandmothers kitchen table. Back then my stories were simple ones, fairy tales mostly but I found my true voice in high school. What was once short fairy tales, became poetic words that allowed me to express love, fear, joy, and sadness. Writing helped me through one of the hardest times in my life – losing my first love. After processing that loss, I realized that I had found my voice through writing and I’ve been writing ever since.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I try to write every day but unfortunately, that does not always happen. My writing process changes with each book. Some books I need to outline and some I just write. I prefer to write either near water or windows. I can write anywhere, but water and good views help my creative juices flow. I do write at home, but I often find that I get distracted by household chores, so when writing at home, I try to make sure everything is done so my focus is not broken.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
My latest book is called Bag Lady. It’s a short story that I wrote after prayer several years ago. I was thinking about all the baggage we tend to carry around with us and how if we are not careful that baggage can affect other areas of our lives. Bag Lady is my first short story and I originally intended for it to be a play, but after sitting on it for a while, I released it as a short story and the readers love it. The main character, Bag Lady, has received an invitation to a new place and it’s something she’s been praying for but when she gets the invitation, the invitee tells her she must leave her baggage behind. The story follows her reluctance to give away what she’s carried around for so long.

My first book, Life’s Reflection, was released in 2013 and rereleased in 2015. Life’s Reflection is a poetic journey that spans over 15 years of my life. I wrote about love, pain, joy, and so much more in this book. It was definitely a reflection of my life. My book, Love Letters of a Worshipper: Prayers, Prose, and Poetry, is the work that is close to my heart; the book is really my love letter to God. I wrote this book during my desire to get closer to God and I came out of it wanting to write even more.

I have a few more books and I have also created several journals all of which are available on Amazon and on my website.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
My favorite authors to read change frequently as I discover new authors but here are a few from my current list: Robert Herjavec, Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, Zari Banks, Mark Batterson, William Shakespeare, and John Eckhardt.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I love to read all kinds of books including history, self-help, fiction, etc. My favorite books list is extensive but here a few of my favorites: The Bible, The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Draw the Circle by Mark Batterson, Love Poems by Nikki Giovanni, The Shack by William P. Young, The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, and Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger. I’ve been a reader since high school so this list is not exhaustive, but these are the books that have touched me in some way.

What are you reading now?
I am currently reading Driven by Robert Herjavec and Wealthy Women Think Differently by Kervin J. Smith.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I work full-time as a Technical Support Specialist for a law firm. My hobbies include knitting, reading, and learning new things.

Are you working on a current project?
I am currently working on a book called The Journey of Faith. In 2016, I moved in faith to Minneapolis, Minnesota with almost nothing and God provided for my son and me every step of the way. It was a tremendous journey, so I decided to share it with others to remind them that with God all things are possible, if we just believe.

Tara Kruyt Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

My earliest memories all have to do with books or reading or telling stories, so I think I was born inclined to explore literature.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I write at the most random times. I carry one specific notebook with me 24/7; ask me anytime where it is & it will be in arms’ reach, because I get random ideas at the most random times and I have to write it down by hand. It’s not the same at typing it on my phone or something, it has to be hand written in THAT notebook, even though it’s so worn out at this point.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
My first published book as of this month is a poetry book I started writing last year. I had a roller coaster of a year full of emotion and whenever I needed to express those feelings I wrote them all down in kind of a chaotic scribble of words. It’s funny, because something just happened to rhyme and then I got the inspiration to turn it into poetry.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
I love Shakespeare. I read Shakespeare so often, especially when I need a burst of creativity or inspiration. (not that I write in Shakespeare style or anything, he just gets my brain gears turning.) If you look at all my Shakespeare books I make notes on every page and circle things I like and translate it…fully aware of how nerdy that makes me sound. I love it.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
My favourite book changes every week. I’ll read anything I can get my hands on so it really depends. I like all literature.

What are you reading now?
When I say I’ll read anything, I genuinely mean anything I can get my hands on. I read a biology textbook the other day because it was the closest thing to me. I read the Four Agreements recently though, and that book also really inspired me to choose my words more carefully & intently and I think that’s important as a writer.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
Whatever I feel like. Everything is my hobby.

Are you working on a current project?
I am almost finished my second project actually which I hope to release in the next few months. I don’t really know what genre I’d classify it as to be completely honest but I would say self-help/autobiography/comedy??? Stay tuned.

BHAGYASHRI KHOBREKAR Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

An Indian Author & Blogger, previously with Leadstart Publishing and currently with Amazon Kindle Publishing.
I am a post graduate (MBA) in the field of Management (Human Resources) and Hospital Administration. I have an experience of certain corporate houses in last 2 years.
I have had a passion of penning down poems and quotes since an early age of school days. I am more than happy a person to have pursued and acknowledged the passion of writing by the means of self-inspiring books written by me till date and surely many more to arrive.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I believe there is a tinch of uniqueness in that every author who decides to pen down his/her thoughts in the various forms of literature.
The same works for me as well. I think the moment of urge when a situation/an experience heard or felt triggers your thought process, blossoms my writing skills.
This span gets the best out of me in terms of writing and to putting forth a book to the audience who would definetly be benefitted out of it.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
I prefer to write in English and Marathi (which is my mother tongue).
I had my debut novel “The Unspoken-Emotions for Lifetime” published by Leadstart Publications in 2015. This is a Fiction novel that was in a story format but had a section of self-help towards the end of the book.
My recently launched (December 2020) book is “Bounce Back-Setback to Comeback” that is a self-published book with the help of Amazon Kindle Publishing Network. This is a self-inspiring book that talks about the setbacks we all face at some point or the other with respect to career, relationships, family, negativity, etc and how we could overcome it to just bounce back in life with an all-together greater enthusiasm within us.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
I would say no. I like to read books in random. Not on the basis of any particular author that I prefer. But still, some like, Briancy Tracy, Mandar Kokate have been on a likeable list for sure.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction books. I get diverted to books that aren’t long. As far as one of the top listed one in my mind is considered, “Eat that Frog” by Brian Tracy has been an all time favourite.

What are you reading now?
Currently I am reading “Spring of Inspiration” by Dr Jitendra Adhia.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
If not writing, I would surely love listening to the music of my choice or travelling to a certain extent or being in talks to closer ones.

Are you working on a current project?
Yes, definetly. I am planning to sketch and come up with the 3rd novel (can be a surprise for 2021).
This time will switch back to fiction (real life story).

Arit Emmanuela Etukudo Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I have always been a daydreamer. Since I was a kid it was easy for me to just tap out of reality whenever I felt like it to imagine stories and characters and random lines that can be in a poem. As soon as I realized that this was a gift was when I started putting more effort into it and actually putting my thoughts down on paper. So I guess finding my talent was what inspired me to start writing seriously. Although I must say that it was my dad that gave me the love for storytelling.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
With my writing I will usually be listening to a song or even just walking down the street thinking and a line or concept will fall into my head and I’ll just write from there. Sometimes I get the opening line, sometimes I get the closing line or sometimes I get a sentence that has nothing at all to do with the main concept.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
My first book is a poetry collection that focuses on the idea of pain and losing yourself because of it. I wrote it as a stepping stone to being more honest with my work while connecting with people that may feel the same way. I used “You” as the main character in this collection because I wanted my words to come off as a conversation and confrontation of the things that have happened to us that we try to ignore.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
My two favorite authors are Gabrielle Garcia Marquez and Chinua Achebe. Marquez opened me up to the world of magical realism, which is a world that only really existed in my thoughts before I found his work. I read his short stories and felt like he understood me and the way type of worlds I wanted to create. Achebe’s “Things fall apart” was a book that I read when I was 9 years old and to read a book at that age where the main character wasn’t like-able opened an entirely new thought process for me. These two authors were what shaped my style of writing.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I like to read books that are intimate with their main characters, that show growth and struggle, and that take me on that journey with them. No matter what genre they are. I just enjoy books with depth.

What are you reading now?
Right now I am reading “For colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf” by Ntozake Shange. I have read this choreopoem at many different points of my life and will continue to read it for a very long time.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I am currently an art student so when I am not writing or in school I am creating visual art and planning my next exhibition.

Are you working on a current project?
I have recently started working on a collection of fictional short tragedies.

J. W. Barlament Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I am a full-time student, part-time author and occasional philosopher. Ever since I have been able to write at all, I have been striving to do so creatively. As a small child, I was stapling together masses of paper in order to start my next great saga. Now, I am making very real sagas, and I do not intend to stop anytime soon.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I must say that my writing process is rather like everyone else’s. I figure out my main story ideas, collect them into notes, make an outline, flesh it out, write it down and refuse to stop until I finish. There is, however, one little quirk to my writing process, and that is that I am only ever able to write at night. It is almost as if some malevolent spirit of the sun prevents me from writing while the world is still bright.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
My debut novel, The Plight of a People, is an immense fantasy epic stretching over several centuries and three separate parts. Each of these parts follows a different leader of the Roesanian people as they struggle against the overwhelming forces of a world lush with catastrophe. Its sequel, The Agony of an Age, is my newest work. It takes place in the same world and is made up of three more parts following three more leaders. Each of these leaders is from a different nation, though, with an experience of unrelenting misery uniting them all. Filled to the brim with towering conflicts, political intrigue and personal perseverance, it is a tale unlike any other of our era.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
Originally, I tried to entertain myself with the many choppy, fast-paced stories that line the bookshelves of many a store and library today. These are rarely able to intellectually challenge their readers, though, leading me to gravitate towards older works. Nowadays, I hold Homer, Lovecraft and Tolkien all in high regards, for I feel they have all introduced me to different parts of the overall craft I would be blind to otherwise.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
As mentioned, I enjoy reading classical literature more than anything else. It just possesses this unique quality of grandiosity that modern fiction overwhelmingly lacks. This is the style I attempt to emulate in my own novels, and so I naturally like to study it as much as I can. I would say my favorite books have been the Iliad, the Bhagavad Gita (although I have never tackled the whole Mahabharata) and The Lord of the Rings series.

What are you reading now?
Currently, I’m reading Dante’s Divine Comedy. It is an intriguing work, and its flowering prose keeps me quite happy as I read on.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I do like to keep busy. On top of writing, school and a part-time job, I also enjoy reading, adventuring outside, drumming, meditating and working on my political projects. I feel like the only way I may waste my life is by living it like everyone else. Thus, it bothers me not to live in the largely unorthodox way that I do.

Are you working on a current project?I just started my work on the third and final installment of my first series. Also, I am continuing the earliest phases of my work on a new political effort of mine, which is detailed in “A New Political Paradigm” on Medium, HubPages and my website. After my first series is finished, I know not what I will write, but I’m sure I will continue writing for as long as I can. And, eventually, I know I’ll be writing some kind of epic poetry. There’s no better way to stick out and get yourself noticed than to do something nobody else is doing.

Preeti Singh Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I am an Indian French interpreter, international writer-journalist, and cinema artist.

I realized very early in my career that I am not a 9-5 person. I worked as a French translator for many different MNCs but was never satisfied with what I was doing. I decided to take a switch to the media field and then one thing led to another and I reached where I am today.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I try to make my first draft as smooth as possible as I am not a fan of editing. Many of my poetry pieces are my first and final drafts. Forced writing really doesn’t work for me so I make the full use of it when my muse decided to linger along.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
My first horror poetry book released in September 2018. Another one is a book of translation that I am quiet excited about it is due to release in 2019, and a few others are in pipeline.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
I like John Keats, R.K. Narayan, Shakespeare, Chetan Bhagat. I am not much into reading fiction. I prefer reading non-fiction on sundry subjects.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
As I said, I prefer reading non-fiction. It would be hard to pick a name in particular. But I cherish reading mindfulness stuff wherever I find one.

What are you reading now?
I am a contributor at Thrive Global run by Arianna Huffington and an avid reader of the same.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I am also an actor so auditions and self-grooming keep me going plus photography is my next sweet spot. I love the camera time be it in front of it or behind it.

 1. Are you working on a current project?Writing a series of children books, poetry, and some one-act plays.

Cedric Scott, Jr. Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

My mother passed away when I was 10 years old. She was only 33 years old at the time. It was at this point that I realized certain feelings within myself and the need to express them. Throughout my life, writing has been my outlet and means of coping with the adversity I faced.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
My writing process is generally grounded in my headspace or feeling at the time that I put pen to paper. There is always a purpose or story behind every poem I write. In this way, my poems essentially write themselves.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
My work is a reflection of who I am as a person and my experiences. I find myself entangling everything from my humble upbringing, the death of my mother at an early age, my work as an educator, psychological state and constant gripes with society.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
James Baldwin and Gil Scott-Heron

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
I enjoy reading about social issues from different perspectives. Two of my favorite books are “The Fire Next Time” by James Baldwin and “Between the World and Me” by Ta’Nehisi Coates.

What are you reading now?
I am currently reading “Go Tell It On the Mountain” by James Baldwin.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I am an educator. I currently serve as the Math Instructional Coach at an elementary school in Washington, DC. In my spare time, when I am not writing, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two dogs or listening to my collection of Vinyl records.

Are you working on a current project?I am currently considering a children’s story written in prose.

Shawn Hudson Interview

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

I started writing because I was tired of the books that my high school was giving us to read because I couldn’t relate to them. I’m a young black kid from the projects I can’t relate to Harry Potter or this other fantasy bullshit they were trying to feed us. I love urban fiction but I got tired of every story being about kingpins and their glory days, so I decided to pick up the pen and the rest was history.

Describe your writing process? Is there anything unique about it?
I usually write a concept down and then I listen to various instrumentals while writing. It helps set the tone for what may happen in a chapter or throughout the course of the story. I’m also very secretive I don’t tell my family or friends what I’m working on until it’s almost done.

Have you published any books or do you have a desire to do so?
My books are usually about the inner city black American experience but I try to tell it from a different perspective instead of Qatarfollowing the stereotypical cookie cutter format. I always aim to write stories that identify a problem but come up with a solution but also incorporate current events into the mix as well.

Do you have any favorite poets or authors?
Silk White and K’wan. Other than that I just have favorite books by various authors.

Do you have a favorite book of poetry or poems?
Hoodlum 1 & 2-K’wan, Drug Dealer-Isadore Johnson, The Outsiders-S.E. Hinton and Tears of a hustler series-Silk White

What are you reading now?
Nothing at the moment but for 2018 I will definitely get back into reading I just didn’t want to be influenced by anyone else’s work while writing my own.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Full-time job, pets, hobbies?
I love listening to music primarily hip-hop, R&B, Jazz, and instrumentals. I also work as a bike courier as well.

Are you working on a current project?I’m working on my next poetry collection “Death Of A Stereotype” and after that, I’m going back to writing novels. I’m currently working on one that is going to definitely be different from what I normally write about. That one I’m gonna drop after DOAS though.
